Investor Basics Workshops

Learn about investing in one of our Investor Basics workshops, are held over one or two sessions (lunchtime or evenings). Each workshop is approximately 1 1/2 hours. The free workshops are small, interactive and have been designed to promote discussion. For this reason, numbers have been limited to 10-12 attendees per workshop series.

Our workshops will cover:

  • The fundamentals of investing – why, how and where to invest
  • Key investment principles – what you need to consider when you invest
  • How to build your own personal investment portfolio

We aim to provide you with enough information to help you establish your investment goals and develop a sound understanding of investing so you feel more confident when talking with your Investment Adviser about personal investment plan and investment decisions. In each workshop you will be provided with handouts to take home and read in your own time.

Felix Vavasour joined Craigs Investments Partners in January 2014. Prior to this, Felix worked as a Chartered Accountant for Winstanley Kerridge from 2008 until 2014. Preceding this Felix held vineyard management and general farming positions.

Felix draws upon his professional and practical experience to help provide clients with effective financial advice and wealth management. Every day Felix interacts with a broad range of clients from private family trusts to corporates, charities and estates.

Outside of work, Felix enjoys time with family and friends, likes sport and all the great outdoor activities on offer. Felix is a member and avidly supports NZ Snowsports Instructors Alliance, Starborough Hunt & Awatere Golf Clubs.

Born and raised in Marlborough, Felix has returned to live with his wife and four girls.

Felix holds the following qualifications:

  • Chartered Accountant, NZICA (2011)
  • Graduation Diploma, Business Studies, University of Otago (2009)
  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), University of Auckland (2008)
  • Authorised Financial Adviser (2015)

He is a member of or accredited with the following organisations:

  • NZX Associate Adviser
  • New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants

Kent was born and bred in Marlborough, but moved to Wellington for seven years whilst working for the Bank of New Zealand. In 1998, Kent chose to return to Marlborough to join NZX Firm Winstanley Dickson - of which he became a partner in 2000.

In April 2007, Craigs Investment Partners purchased the Winstanley Dickson firm and with this, Kent joined Craigs Investment Partners as an Investment Adviser and the Blenheim Branch Manager.

Kent is a very keen sportsman having in the past, participated to a high level in many sports including, water and snow skiing, rugby, soccer and tennis.  Outside of work Kent loves spending time with his family, playing a little golf and enjoying time in the Marlborough Sounds.

Kent Winstanley holds the following qualifications:

  • NZX Diploma
  • Certificate of Authorisation AFA (2011)

He is a member of or accredited with the following organisations:

Our Investor Basics Workshops are designed to help those people interested in learning the fundamentals of investing. We aim to help you be more confident in setting goals, talking to your Investment Adviser and developing an investment portfolio.

We are hosting an Investor Basics workshop which will cover the fundamentals of investing - why, how and where to invest. It has been designed to be interactive and promote discussion.

Ian Watson joined Craigs Investment Partners in 2014. He has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Ian previously worked as an Investment Adviser at Murray & Co. Wealth Management and Macquarie Private Wealth and as a Financial Planner at Spicers Portfolio Management.

Outside of work Ian enjoys spending time with family, which mostly involves taxi driving 3 teenage daughters to their various activities. Water sports are popular plus a few days skiing in the winter if there is plenty of snow.

  • GDip Business Studies (Financial Planning) CFP, Massey University (2002)
