Exchange Traded Funds Handbook 2010

There are now over 2,000 listed ETFs around the world, and their popularity with investors continues to grow. Our ETF guide contains an easy-to-use directory that provides a snapshot and key data on a total of 1,700 ETFs. Much of the guide is dedicated to profiles on 145 of our favoured funds which we have selected from this universe, covering a range of sectors, markets and themes suitable for client portfolios.

Why Global Equities are important?
Global equities are vital part of a balanced portfolio. They provide diversification away from New Zealand and access to industries and companies not available here. ETFs offer the transparency and liquidity inherent in listed entities, and provide a low-cost, convenient means of accessing global markets.

Why ETFs?
We have been including index funds in client portfolios for many years. We believe they are an excellent tool for portfolios as a means of providing a low-cost exposure to global markets or specific sectors. some clients go one step further and use index funds as the core of their entire share portfolio.

They are a means of accessing access specific themes or sectors. It is very difficult to pick stocks in overseas markets from New Zealand., however if you want to invest in biotechnology, or for some reason you believe Turkey is a good place to invest, you can find an ETF for this niche. This way you get the theme without having to try and pick the right stocks.

How this book will help you?
The book has been structured to include some of the Craigs Investment Partners core themes for the decade, identifying a selection of ETFs and investment trusts that fit those themes.

It outlines a range of core and niche funds that fit within those themes, that we believe will be of interest to clients.
